Hearts Mountain developed Blockade, a "spot-on" variety of flea control. 
Many other similar products have evolved over the years. Flea control 
products are essential in Florida. I remember taking my dog every week to 
the vet so she could have the "spot-on" put on her by the vet. It then 
became available commercially with the product names Advantage and 
Front-Line among others.
