[Nfbf-l] My Resignation

Dearest Sherrill,

Thank you for such a heart-felt message. I so appreciate the
friendship that we share and as you said, I am not quitting, just stepping
down a bit. Hopefully I can still be involved with the scholarship program
since it is kind of my baby so to speak. When I first became a board member
I was determined to get the program up and going on solid ground. Now it is
doing well and this has been the case for many years now.
My love for the Federation will always be strong because the
organization has so profoundly effected my life in so many positive ways. I
am therefore compelled to pass what I have learned to other blind folks who
do not know the value of being anchored in NFB philosophy.

Hugs and blessings,

Kathy

Kathy,

I want to thank you so very much for your faithful and dedicated service to
our affiliate! You have brought your very special spirit and energy to the
NFBF, in whatever capacity you were serving. We'll miss you in a leadership
role, but know you'll be helping in so many other ways, especially the
scholarship committee, which I know is dear to your heart. We all appreciate
your tireless effort on behalf of the blind of Florida!

Blessings
Sherrill

Dear NFBF Leaders and Members:

After several months of deliberation, I have decided that I will
not seek reelection to the NFBF State Board of Directors. I did not reach
this decision easily without careful consideration and feeling very torn.

It has been my honor to play a leadership position in the NFBF
for many years. I was the founding president of the Greater Daytona Beach
Chapter and served in this capacity until 2009. I have been an NFBF board
member several terms, as well as Second Vice President, First Vice President
and President of the NFBF for four years. Those of you who know me well, or
know of me, recognize my dedication to the Florida affiliate.

So many of you are like family to me, and others whom I do not
know very well are still my sisters and brothers in the NFB as together we
continue to make a positive difference in the lives of blind people. Our
task will never end, but we have a responsibility to continue fighting the
good fight on all fronts.

It is not my intention to fade into the sunset as is often the
case when leaders resign. Instead, I will always be an active member in the
NFB and will do my best to do a good job as the recently elected vice
president of the Greater Daytona Beach Chapter. I will stand ready to
continue helping blind people of all ages and to assist the leadership of
the NFBF in any way I can.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication to our
organization and for your love and friendship. I'll be counting on every
single member to get behind your chapter president and the NFBF Board of
Directors to lend your support to the various initiatives we have under way
at present and to those we will undertake in the future.

With warm regards and deep appreciation,

Kathy Davis

NFBF State Board Member
