when you get your state id just request that they put a braille label on the
back of it that says "florida ID card".
some of the DMV employees won't know about the label but it is available
upon request.

>>> Well, I just successfully obtained my new Florida ID card. Because this
>>> has been talked about on the list before and people have struggled with
>>> it, let me just give a brief review of what's necessary. First, a
>>> warning that the state does not notify you about your old ID being about
>>> to expire. Therefore, keep track of it. When you go to DMV, no
>>> appointment is necessary, at least that is the case in this office in
>>> Stuart, but you must bring an original birth certificate, Social
>>> Security Card, and two proofs of your residency in Florida. Those can
>>> be recent bills you have received with your name and address on them, or
>>> they can be letters you've received from a government agency, such as
>>> the Social Security Administration. But two of those are necessary. If
>>> you have your old ID card, bring that with you as well. I believe if
>>> you have a passport, that can take the place of at least some of that
>>> documentation. It is really a quick process if you have all your
>>> paperwork together. The ID will cost $31.25. And by the way, if you are
>>> planning on moving to another state, as I am, don't expect that you can
>>> get a temporary ID or some sort of sticker that might reduce or
>>> eliminate the cost. In someone else's words, there ain't no such
>>> animal. So there you have it, I hope that helps anyone who might be
>>> ready to obtain another state ID card.
