[Nfbf-l] New Dogs

Hi Pat,
Thank you so very much for the encouraging words and the warm
thoughts. Goodness knows you know all about the bitter sweet feelings of
retiring one's beloved guide dog and getting another one. It's kind of like
getting a new baby with all the necessary training I'll be doing when I
return home. If we don't reinforce the training given to us at Seeing Eye,
the new dog can end up and have some bad behavior. Yes, all of that
reinforcement with my new baby is of utmost importance.

Take good care and don't hesitate to give me a call or to send e-mail.

Kathy

Have a safe trip, Kathy. As you already know, retiring a dog, and
transitioning on to a new one is always difficult. At least you know Davy
will be in good hands. Just think, as we speak, your new, bright-eyed guy
or gal is awaiting you right now, and eager to please you and get to know
you and their new home.

Look forward to hearing from you in your spare time, which I know is sparse,
but hopefully you can drop us a line and at least let us know who your new
companion is. Good luck, and safe travels to you and Carlos.
