Central Florida just received a huge grant for its LYNX program.

Congresswoman Corrine Brown announced a $3.36 million Department of 
Transportation grant for LYNX.

The LYNX project was selected on a competitive basis through the 2012 State 
of Good Repair Program. The grant will allow LYNX to purchase up to 40 
replacement Para transit vehicles. These new vehicles will allow LYNX to 
provide expanded transportation service to the region’s seniors and to those 
with disabilities.

With respect to the grant, Congresswoman Brown made the following statement:

“The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) provides bus 
service to an extremely diverse group of riders. And with these funds, they 
will be able to provide enhanced service to the region’s veterans, seniors, 
and disabled populations, including those utilizing the new Veterans 
Hospital and other medical facilities located at Lake Nona.

I worked diligently in assisting to secure funding through the Federal 
Transit Administration and am pleased to see these efforts come to fruition 
today. Beyond a doubt, Transportation funding is a win-win, since it 
benefits our economy by creating quality jobs while simultaneously improving 
our nation’s infrastructure.”  … News 13
