Debby,  hope something in here helps.  b

Justify justify justify why Colorado Center is the place for  you.  This is
not an email by chance. Julie Deden, CO Ctr, was my first  DBS/VR counselor
about 19 years ago. We met up at the National Convention after  all these
years! She has taken this directorship and i can vouch that being  under her
tutelage, direction at her center is The Best place for  you.
Her talent, special talent is recognizing and working with the  student
preparing for college.

At your meeting in the morning with FL DBS, self advocate, justify  why
this school has the protocol best suited for you and your needs at  this
juncture in your life.  May I suggest these ideas for  you?

Clearly state your educational goals, your majors and why. CO CTB  has a
unique and strong world-renowned reputation of unique and strong  protolcols
that will meet my educational goals...state again what these goals  are, CTB
can help me maintain and strengthen what I've learned thus far in my  young
life, coming out of high school. I have ILskills and for my age group i do
well. Being a college preparatory student on my own CO CTB, living on
campus at CO CTB and I can fulfill my goals more effectively.  (keep  mentioning
the school name and  your educational  goals often).
Below I cut/pasted from a web page I found. Maybe you will see some  'buzz
words' in there to help you in the morning.
You will do just fine...
just remember DBS doesn't care about the emotional aspect of our
lives...they need to justify your justification for approval and  why.

Good luck, keep me posted, please!

The Colorado Center for the Blind is a world-renowned training center
located  at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Littleton, Colorado, about 13
miles south  of Denver. Since its establishment in 1988, the Colorado Center has
provided  innovative teaching techniques and philosophy that continues to
have  Far-reaching effects on the lives of blind people, taking them to new
heights of  independence.

Hello Debby,

Can you explain a bit  as to what 'last appeal' means, please? I may  have
missed previous  posts on this subject.

Thanks.
Brooke

Last  appeal for assistance in getting Division of Blind  Services here in
FL to help  Winona attend the CO Center for the  Blind next summer. I know
DBS
doesn't like  to fund programs out of  state, but she really wants to
attend
the CO program,  and we like  the NFB philosophy that will come from there.

This will be  the  summer between graduating high school, and beginning
college. Hard  to  believe that time has arrived!

Thanks for any  additional  suggestions, persuasive comments, etc. We
appreciate the  ones received  previously. We are putting together our
final
requests  before our meeting on   Tuesday.

Thanks!
