PANCAKE BREAKFAST BENEFITS THE BLIND
On Saturday, July 26 - the 24th anniversary of the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA),, Beef O'Brady's will host a pancake breakfast to
benefit the Tampa Bay Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of
Florida (NFBF). The breakfast will be held from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the
Beef OBrady's located at 8810 N. Himes Ave. and will include two eggs,
pancakes, bacon, and coffee, tea, or orange juice for only $7.00 per plate.
In addition to breakfast, guests will also have the chance to win door
prizes and participate in a 50/50 drawing.
Blind chapter members will be on hand to demonstrate reading & writing
Braille, including having their names written in the tactile code, share how
blind people use the long white cane, and how a blind person uses a guide
dog. Advance reservations are required and can be made by sending an email
with the number in your party to

MBKilby at gmail.com

"Every day we raise the expectations of blind people," says Miranda Kilby,
who serves as the Tampa Bay chapter president, "because low expectations
create obstacles between blind people and our dreams."

The National Federation of the Blind is the oldest and largest
organization of the blind in the United States. The NFB believes that the
real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight, but low expectations
of the blind that create obstacles to achieving their highest potential. The
Federation provides scholarships to blind students; support for those who
are blind or losing their eyesight; advocacy for the blind facing
discrimination; and informational programs for the general public on topics
of blindness. The NFB is not an organization that speaks on behalf of the
blind; they are the blind speaking for themselves.
