> Obama Releases Proposed Fiscal Year 2015 Budget
> On Tuesday, President Obama released his proposed fiscal year (FY) budget of $3.901 trillion. Although very little of the proposed budget is expected to become law, it is intended to serve as a benchmark for Congress as it heads into midterm elections in November. Similar to his FY 2014 budget proposal, the President proposed once again ideas for changes to Medicare and Medicaid and avoided major structural revisions of the two programs. The proposal’s changes to federal health programs would save approximately $402 billion over 10 years, including $354.1 billion in cuts to Medicare providers and $8.9 billion in savings from Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The budget also removes the ‘chained’ Consumer Price Index, which would have cut Social Security benefits for millions of Americans. Get more information and summaries of important topics on the proposed budget from the White House.

For next year, the enrollment period will begin November 15, 2014, and will go through February 15, 2015, one month longer than previously scheduled. Learn more from The New York Times.

> Arkansas House of Representatives Votes to Expand Medicaid
> On Tuesday, the Arkansas House of Representatives voted to let the state take federal dollars to continue Medicaid expansion. Arkansas will continue its extended coverage for another year under the so-called “private option,” which the state’s Republican-controlled legislature devised last year as an acceptable alternative to expanding traditional Medicaid.
