BRUNCH WITH THE BLIND

On Saturday, May 31, a day-long yard sale, house party and
brunch will benefit the work of the National Federation of the Blind.
Beginning at 9:00 a.m. with pancakes, sausage, & coffee and lasting through
the evening with pulled pork, cole slaw, & baked beans, this event will
feature live music, educational games, Guide Dog Foundation (GDF)
puppies-in-training, and loads of fun! The brunch will be held at 1003
Papaya Drive in Tampa, four blocks west of 78th Street just south of Palm
River Road. The suggested donation is $6.00 for breakfast and $8.00 for
lunch. All proceeds benefit the National Federation of the blind.

"The real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight," Says Merry
Schoch, a blind social worker with a private practice in Brandon. "The real
problem is low expectations of the blind that create obstacles to achieving
our highest potential." Schoch contends that, as we raise the expectations
of the blind, we remove the barriers to full participation by the blind and
the realization of their highest potential.

The National Federation of the Blind is the oldest and largest
organization of the blind in the United States. The Federation provides
scholarships to blind students; support for those who are blind or losing
their eyesight; advocacy for the blind facing discrimination; and
educational programs for the general public on topics of blindness. The NFB
is not an organization that speaks on behalf of the blind; they are the
blind speaking for themselves. Those who cannot attend the event may also
send tax-deductible contributions by credit/debit card by calling
813-626-2789 or by mail to
