Hello!

I wanted to share Hadley School for the Blind eConnect and share that I will be participating in the

Exchange: Enhancing Independence Integrating Modern Technology and Braille on June 11

I will share my experience as a person with Usher Syndrome Type II. (Hard of Hearing and Retinitis Pigmentosa). I will share how I use technology and braille for the Florida Coordinating Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (FCCDHH) Quarterly meetings. I hope you will register and listen in. And please share!

There will be several other students who will also share their experiences. This is going to be a very interesting and empower presentation for ALL.

Sharing educates and encourages others!!

Have a wonderful day and weekend!
(smile)
Darlene

Seminars at Hadley Presents: Beyond the Working Years: Developing a Retirement Plan for Your Dog Guide
Date: Tuesday, June 3, 2014
Time: 2:00 PM CDT, 19:00 GMT
Retiring a dog guide presents the handler with several opportunities and challenges when considering the long-term care of the dog. This seminar will provide honest talk about the four options: keeping the retired guide in your home; giving him/her to a friend or relative; finding a loving home; or returning the dog to your school to find a retirement home.
Join Seminars at Hadley as Michelle Drolet, former counseling specialist with 14 years of experience with The Seeing Eye, presents on the pros and cons of each placement option for dog and master and addresses your questions to help you make the best decision for you and your dog.
This 90-minute seminar will be co-moderated by two of Hadley’s staff who have personally experienced traveling with and retiring dog guides, Colleen Wunderlich, director of the Forsythe Center for Employment and Entrepreneurship and Doug Anzlovar, dean of Educational Programs. A question and answer session will be included as part of the seminar.
This seminar is an audio presentation. Space in this seminar is limited. Please only register if you know you are available to attend so that others are not closed out. Seminars at Hadley Presents: Braille Exchange: Enhancing Independence: Integrating Modern Technology and Braille
Date: Wednesday, June 11, 2014
Time: 10:00 AM CDT, 15:00 GMT
We often hear with all of the modern technology available that braille is no longer needed. Don’t believe it! Did you know you can enhance your independence by integrating modern technology and braille? Gain insight from those who use devices such as braille displays and notetakers.
Join Seminars at Hadley and learn the secrets of modern technologies in synergy with braille in the 21st century. Hadley instructors Vileen Shah and Jennifer Ottowitz, along with five Hadley students, will discuss the benefits to integrating modern technology and braille for their personal use at home, at work and in the community.
Doug Anzlovar, dean of Educational Programs and Instruction, will moderate this 60-minute seminar. A question and answer session will be included as part of the seminar.
