Hello fellow Federationists,

On April 16, several agencies participated in Walk with Paloma, a march and
presentation at the Historical Capital Building in Tallahassee. This rally
was in support of Fund the Gap, a movement created by a 9 year-old visually
impaired girl and her family to persuade Florida legislators to designate $3
million to create a program to assist children from age 6 to 13 who are
blind or visually impaired. The name of the movement was chosen because this
group of school aged children currently do not have services provided by any
state agency.

Our state affiliate president, Denise Valkema, asked me to report on the
event and request the NFB to back Florida Association of Agencies Serving
the Blind (FAASB), Division of Blind Services (DBS), and the Lighthouse of
the Big Bend in realizing the dream.

We can help by addressing Florida legislators and convincing them to
allocate the funds needed.

For additional information, please visit Paloma's website at
http://www.palomasdream.com or contact her family at
Elizabeth.Ricci at Rambana.com or (850) 544-9970.

Thanks for your consideration,

TinettaCooper
