Hello Florida Federation Family!!!

In an email sent to many of you yesterday morning I advised that we were working out details for a meeting with the office of Senator Rick Scott and our hopes were that it would fall in line with an appointment with US House member Greg Steube, (FL-District 17). The good news is, we were able to arrange that both appointments would be held on Wednesday, March 31st.

You are welcome and encouraged to attend  both of these truly important Zoom meetings. If you are not able to be with us for both don’t let that prevent you from coming to one of them, (if your schedule permits). We will use the same Zoom link and call in numbers for both meetings.

I understand that most of us are not constituents of Congressman Steube in the 17th District, but don’t let that keep you from attending the meeting. Your attendance will be a great opportunity to demonstrate your support of the Legislative priorities of the Federation and your support for the folks making the four presentations during the meeting.

If you reside in Florida, (and I suspect you do), you are a constituent of Senator Rick Scott. Attending this appointment, (even if you are not presenting one of the four issues), will demonstrate in a big way, your dedication to the concerns of blind Floridians and your support for the Legislative priorities of the NFB. The more attendees we have at this meeting, the better. Having a large number of attendees will really send a message to Senator Scott.

The schedule for the meetings is as follows:

Wednesday, March 31st at 10:00 AM – Congressman Greg Steube, (FL. House District 17)

If attending this meeting, please arrive by 9:45 AM. The meeting should last around 30 minutes or so.

Wednesday, March 31st @ 11:00 AM – US Senator Rick Scott

If attending this meeting, please arrive by 10:45 AM. The meeting should last around 30 minutes or so.

Even though the meeting is taking place virtually, we are treating it with the same professional manner that we would if we were meeting these staff members in person either in Washington or in District. What I mean is, if the meeting has begun and you are  not yet in the room, you will not be admitted.

We will be using the Zoom waiting room feature on Wednesday, so if you arrive between 10:00 AM and 10:45 AM please be patient and you’ll be admitted after the Congressional meeting ends.

The two meetings outlined in this email represent milestones for our Affiliate. Upon their completion we will have met with the offices of both our Senators and all 27 of our Congressional Representatives. This will be an exciting goal to achieve, but of course, as you know, the work will not be over. More meetings will take place throughout the year as we strive to gain support for our Legislative initiatives from all of our Federally elected officials.
