about it.
Sending this little note out to remind everyone that we will have a special

Good morning
Happy holidays to each of you, our wonderful Sunrise and Shine family. I am
so glad that we have had so many incredible gatherings not only this year,
but since we launched 'Rise and Shine in April of 2020. I never imagined
that the get-togethers would keep going the way they have, but since things
are going so well, we'll just keep it rolling into the new year and
hopefully beyond.
We are going to hold a special celebration this coming Friday, December 26th
at 10:00 AM ET and will have several exciting topics on our agenda. We can
certainly discuss how our holidays have gone, (including what cool presents
we may have unwrapped), if you have thoughts about the upcoming year, this
is the call for you.
Our featured topic for this Friday's special SRS will be the fun of audio
descriptive movies. So many blind and low vision people have discovered the
joy of audio description attached to films of all kinds. Not everyone has
discovered this feature and so, unfortunately, some of us are really missing
out.
We will have a very special guest joining us on Friday morning to help lead
our discussion and to provide us with our featured matinee movie at 11:00 AM
EG. Steve Cook, our friend and 'Rise and Shine family member from South
Carolina has been hosting an audio descriptive movie night on Zoom for more
than five years. His Friday night events are extremely popular and have
attracted visitors from across the US and from around the world, (sounds a
bit like Sunrise and Shine doesn't it). Steve has forgotten more about audio
descriptive movies than I'll ever know and I am so glad that he and his
wonderful spouse Shannon will be with us on Friday.
So, just what is the featured film for this Friday, I'll tell you. We're
going to show the 1987 classic, "The Princess Bride". The cinematic
masterpiece is one of those films that can be watched over and over. Not
only are the performers and the characters they portray terrific, but Steve
and I thought this also would be a nice way to salute the films Producer and
Director, Rob Reiner.
I hope that you will be able to find a warm and cozy spot to settle in to
and will have some yummy snacks to munch on during the movie. I will be
grazing on some terrific popcorn I have received from City Pop during the
NFBF-Greater Jacksonville Chapter fund raiser. If you would like to help us
out and get some terrific snacks, you are in luck because we've extended the
fund raiser until January 2nd. Just rea reach out tome and I'll give you all
the details.
If you haven't been to one of our calls before, joining us with a morning
beverage in hand will give you a chance to find out what you've been
missing. We always take time for welcoming new guest speakers and
participants and for lots of warmth and laughter.
Most of us have become pretty familiar with attending meetings using the
Zoom platform over the past few years and in fact, we've been using Zoom
since we launched Rise and Shine way back on April 16th2020. If you're not
used to using Zoom or if it's still giving you difficulties, don't give up
just yet. You can access the meeting by clicking on he below listed web
link, by using the one tap mobile feature or by dialing the phone number
provided and entering the access code when prompted.
The regulars on our call are always warm and welcoming and are thrilled to
see new faces.
Hope to have you with us this Thursday morning, see below for the Zoom info.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me before the
call. Check the bottom of this email for the Zoom call-in instructions.
