[NFBF-L] Join Us for Our June Statewide Chapter Meeting – Saturday, June 21 at 8 PM EDT

Florida Statewide Chapter Secretary statewide at nfbflorida.org
Sun Jun 15 11:38:00 UTC 2025

Hello Statewide members, friends, and supporters,

Please join us for our next Florida Statewide Chapter monthly business
meeting on Saturday, June 21st at 8:00 PM EDT via Zoom. We are developing a
full agenda and look forward to your participation as we continue to build
a stronger, more connected chapter. Here are the meeting topics:

Statewide Spotlight

In response to member feedback, the board is excited to introduce a new
segment called Statewide Spotlight, which will take place at the beginning
of each meeting. During this time, participants are invited to share a
recent positive experience or express what’s on their mind. This segment
replaces the traditional icebreaker, and your contributions will be
highlighted in the meeting minutes.

Quick National Convention Reminder

We will offer a brief overview of the upcoming National Convention,
emphasizing its importance, the value of participating virtually, and how
to access the general sessions and banquet remotely. The convention is the
premier event where Federation priorities are set, accomplishments are
celebrated, and speakers address key topics impacting the blind community.

State Convention updates

We'll provide the latest updates on our 2025 State Convention, including
the hotel location, room rates, and booking instructions (both online and
by phone). Additionally, the board will share preliminary ideas for
potentially reimbursing members’ registration fees.

Statewide Fundraising Ideas

To support our treasury, the board will present a few fundraising
opportunities. These include two potential table fundraisers during the
state convention and a pilot online fundraiser. We will also remind
everyone of the statewide giving challenge. We will also consider motioning
a budget for the table at the exhibit hall. If you enjoy cotton candy,
you’ll definitely want to hear more about this one!

Florida Statewide Social at State Convention

The board will also unveil an exciting idea for our Statewide Social event
at convention. If you’re a fan of good food and fun, you won’t want to miss
this discussion. We may also motion a budget for the social.

Other Topics

Here are some other topics that may be discussed during the meeting.

   1.

Hospitality Suite: Do we wish to donate to the hospitality suite?
   2.

Door Prizes: Should we contribute, and what kind of prizes?
   3.

Dollar Auction: Should Statewide donate items, and if so, which ones?

This will be a jam-packed meeting full of important topics and
opportunities to get involved. Your voice matters, and we look forward to
your input and ideas. I can’t wait to see you all at our next meeting. The
Zoom info can be found below.

Best,

Jose

"We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or our
future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low
expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our
