Greetings:

The National Federation of the Blind of Florida is excited to offer an
accessible gaming room at our upcoming state convention! This is an outreach
project to bring young members and their parents into our affiliate. We are
calling on volunteers to staff the room and keep it moving! If you are
excited to be part of this project, see below on how to become one of our
volunteers. The deadline to sign up is Friday, July 24 by 11:59 Eastern
Time. Please email President at NFBFlorida.org
<mailto:President at NFBFlorida.org> with your name and contact information,
including your email address. Your information will be forwarded to our
Education department at the Jernigan Institute to begin the background check
process. You will receive an email from them with the link to complete the
training module. You will also receive an email from me with the Youth
Policy document that you must read and sign, then email back to me. Each
year, when there is a program hosted by any part of our affiliate that
involves direct contact with or designed for youths under the age of 18,
this process must be completed.

Accessible Gaming Room:

*	Open on Saturday, October 10 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
*	Sunday, October 11 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
*	Shifts will be two hours, but we are willing to negotiate, depending
on how many youths will be present.
*	Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: checking in
attendees who have signed up for a session, maintaining the flow of traffic,
directing youths to their gaming station and other duties as needed.
*	Volunteers must be aged 21 or older.

The following procedures must be followed in order to volunteer in the
gaming room. No exceptions will be granted:

*	All volunteers must be background checked by the National Federation
of the Blind, regardless of any previous background checks completed to be
on school grounds. This background check will be at no cost to the
volunteers. Your full legal name and email address will be required to
complete the background check.
*	All volunteers must complete a training module and show the
Certificate of Completion prior to the start of state convention.
*	All volunteers must read and sign acknowledgment of our Youth
Participation Protection Policy document. This document must be returned
prior to the start of state convention.

We thank all who wish to volunteer for this pilot project. This is a great
opportunity to grow our affiliate and introduce blind youth to successful
and independent blind people. If you have any questions or concerns, please
feel free to contact me.

Let's go build the National Federation of the Blind of Florida!
