Hello, NFB of Florida family,

 

It is with sadness that I report to you the unexpected loss of one of the
Greater Jacksonville Chapters newest members. Mr. Barry Akins passed away on
Saturday, July 4th. I spoke with his wife yesterday afternoon when she
delivered the sad news of Barry's passing.

 

Barry had joined the National Federation of the Blind and our Chapter on
April 4th and was very excited about being welcomed into our Federation
family.

 

We do not have any information regarding the circumstances surrounding
Barry's death, only that he had been hospitalized recently with an injury.

 

Please keep Barry's wife and family in your thoughts and prayers while they
navigate this very difficult time.
