[nfbmi-talk] Sky Dive Event

And the great thing seriously is that you have that choice. I trully respect
that in all cases.

Back to the safety and marksmanship course though Cannon and DELEG denied
that choice to students at MCB TC by eliminating this modified, optional
course altogether which on its face was a gross violation of the
prohibitions against discrimination in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
of 1973, Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and even Cannon's
old favorite the Michigan Person's with Disabilities Act.

Believe me I would be just as ticked off if this course was forced upon all
students as I am that it is being denied to some solely because they happen
to be blind.

You see the fundamentals of civil rights laws like 504 and the ADA are to
prohibit discrimination in the first instance, promote integration and
choice, and to afford for reasonable accommodations.

On all those counts and more Cannon and the powers that be have violated
these principles.

Sad that he is also the State ADA Coordinator, very sad, and very pathetic
in deed and practice.

But, you and I both will keep our feet on the ground for the moment.

Smile...

Joe
