Re: FOIA/OMA Requests Draft Minutes and Recordings

Carla Haynes, Michigan Commission for the Blind, FOIA Officer

(via e-mail)

Dear Ms. Haynes,

I am writing today to request pursuant to obligations under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act and the Michigan Open Meetings Act the draft minutes of the June 18, 2010 MCB meeting, and the July 20, 2010 “Special Meeting” draft minutes. They may be sent, as in the past to my e-mail address listed above. Moreover, I am requesting that these draft minutes are routinely sent to me without further requests as the OMA does require that “subscriptions” to these draft minutes is an obligation of such an entity as MCB. Further, in the interest of good and open government I suggest that these minutes are placed on the MCB web site within the 8 day requirement of the OMA. This certainly would facilitate more openness and trust with MCB and be of benefit to the public at large.

In addition, as in the past I am requesting that you send me the mp3 recordings on CD media of the two meetings listed above. Again, in MCB’s action plans and in other literature the archiving of these recordings was supposed to have been implemented on MCB’s web site years ago. At least that was the professed promise of the Commission. I would not have to bother you with these requests if the archiving of these files was actually implemented for I would just access them online or download them for later review.

Regardless, I thank you for your past prompt responses to these requests and thank you in advance for your prompt response to this one.

Sincerely,

Paul Joseph Harcz, Jr.
