[nfbmi-talk] Meet the Blind Month Activities for a very small chapter?

Hi Terri,

If you are looking to raise a bit of money for your chapter, you could look into participating in the Macy’s shop for a cause event if you have a Macy’s store in your local area. I believe this year that the event takes place on October 16, 2010.

Basically the store has coupons that they give out to local charities for them to sell. It is a nice fundraiser because there is no up front cost, and you get to keep all of the money you raise from selling the coupons. You could either sell the coupons ahead of time, or ask the store if you could sell them the day of the event at the door.

When you sell the coupons, you could also hand them a piece of literature with information about the NFB such as a Braille card or even a little print out about your local chapter. I don’t think I will be able to make your chapter meeting this month, but I could try to come to your chapter meeting next month as a way to help support your new chapter during Meet the Blind month. Contact me off list if you like this idea, and we can discuss it further.

Elizabeth
