PHOENIX

(KPHO) -

On Tuesday July 26, blind workers in Phoenix will hold an informational protest in front of Sen. John McCain's office to draw attention to a proposed senate

bill that will allow employers to pay disabled workers at a rate lower than federal minimum wage.

The Senate Health,

Education,

Labor, and Pensions Committee is scheduled on Aug. 3, to vote on the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). The proposed bill contains language re-authorizing

the payment of wages below the federal minimum wage to workers with disabilities.

Blind workers will meet outside Senator McCain's office at 2201 East Camelback Rd. in Phoenix. July 26 is the 21st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities

Act. The Arizona protest is part of a nationwide effort by blind workers to target the senate offices of committee members across the nation.
