Technical/professional expertise is demonstrated through problem solving, applying technical knowledge, and product and service management for the functional area in which one operates.

SECTION II: OBJECTIVES

 

Objective 1: The MCB Ad Hoc Committee on Training Center Services will conclude its work in the first quarter of 2007 and make its recommendations on how to enhance and improve services for center clients. Compile committee recommendations and report to commissioners in April and work with PAQ Team, CIC and other entities for additional comments and report findings in June.  Report progress on the implementation of at least three recommendations in October and December.

Objective 2: MCB has applied for the Michigan Quality Council’s Navigator award, the next step in its Quality Management Initiative (MCB received the Lighthouse award in 2003). The application to MQC was submitted in December and the results of the application will be reported in April.

     Section II.2  COMMISSIONER RATING =                3.0

 

Objective 3:  Explore collaboration with Office of Services to the Aging and area agencies on aging to help leverage human and fiscal resources to more effectively serve older individuals with sight loss.  Report progress by April 07 and develop an implementation plan by June 07. 

     Section II.3  COMMISSIONER RATING =                2.5

 

Objective 4: Explore feasibility of presenting “Changing Lives, Changing Attitude,” the general agency video, on the Commission’s web site and report to commissioners in June.

     Section II.4  COMMISSIONER RATING =                3.0

 

Objective 5:  MCB’s popular Communications Committee meetings will be conducted bi-monthly and MCB will offer to present the concept as a model to DLEG by April, provide assistance and make recommendations to individual DLEG agencies as requested, and report progress to Commissioners in June and December.

     Section II.5  COMMISSIONER RATING =                3.0

 

Objective 6:  By April, participate in a workshop for all Michigan Intermediate School Districts’ teachers of the Visually Impaired and/or superintendents to provide opportunity for advocacy and training between MCB and VI teachers and to enhance opportunities for collaboration and potential cash-match agreements. Report progress on the development of such agreements in June and December.

Objective 7:  Demonstrate strong commitment to performance appraisal and feedback through the development of goals and objectives and performance expectations; provide fair and objective performance evaluations; ensure timely submission of evaluations for subordinate staff and/or self evaluations.

     Section II.7  COMMISSIONER RATING =                3.0

 

Objective 8: Increase opportunities to recognize performance excellence by MCB Staff by showcasing staff:  
To include staff profile in the agency bi-monthly newsletter – “MCB Insight”
To identify staff to be recognized at the State of DLEG meetings held in April and October of 2007. 

Report to board in June and December.

     Section II.8  COMMISSIONER RATING =                3.0
