Public Comment Opportunities

Have Something to Say about Disability Policy? Tell NCD at an Upcoming Public Comment Opportunity.

Throughout the year, NCD convenes four quarterly meetings and sometimes other forums and events at which there are periods designated for public comment.
It is during these times that NCD seeks to learn about emerging issues and areas of concern for NCD's diverse stakeholders to inform and help direct the
work of the Council.

On December 4 and 5, the National Council on Disability (NCD) will meet in Topeka, Kansas to host one of its quarterly board meetings. We’ll have two opportunities
for public comment and would love to hear from you – in person or by phone. Advanced registration is requested and details follow below. Can’t make it
in person or by phone? You can email us your comments, too.

Public Comment for Kansans – The first public comment period on Wednesday, December 4, from 4:15 to 5:15 PM Central Time is reserved for Kansans only. While
visiting Topeka, NCD wants to learn as much as we can about what is happening on the ground with Kansans with disabilities. Interested parties can provide
comment in person or by phone.

General Public Comment – NCD has reserved Thursday, November 5, between 11:15 and 11:45 AM Central Time to accept public comments from the general public.
This public comment period is open to everyone who registers from across the nation, in person or by phone, and is not restricted to Kansans.

Location and Call-In Information – The meeting will occur at the Kansas State House in the Old Supreme Court Chambers, located at SW 10th and SW Jackson,
Topeka, KS 66612. Those attending in person should be prepared to process through Kansas State House security upon entrance. Individuals who present their
comments in-person will be given priority status. For those joining by phone, dial 1-888-417-8533. The Conference ID is 3860992, Conference Title is NCD
Meeting, and Host Name is Jeff Rosen. Individuals providing comments by phone will be called on according to the list of those registered via email.

Registration for Public Comment – To facilitate a smooth public comment period, NCD requests that all those interested in making public comment register
in advance by sending an email to
PublicComment at ncd.gov
with the subject line “Public Comment, Topeka, KS” with your name, organization, state, and topic of comment included in the body of your email. Interested
parties must register no later than close of business on Monday, December 2, 2013.

Emailed Comments – Full-length written public comments can also be sent to
PublicComment at ncd.gov
at any time.

Other Considerations – At the outset of your comments, you will be asked to state your name, organizational affiliation, and the topic on which you wish
to make comment. So that NCD can hear from as many people as possible, we ask all commenters to please limit their comments to three minutes.

Accommodations – ASL and CART will be provided on-site. A CART streamtext link has also been arranged for each day of the meeting for those seeking to access
it remotely. For Wednesday, beginning at 9:00 a.m., CMT, the web link to access CART is
http://www.streamtext.net/text.aspx?event=120413NCD1000am.
For Thursday, beginning at 9:00 a.m., CMT, the web link to access CART is
http://www.streamtext.net/text.aspx?event=120513NCD1000am.

Those who plan to attend the meeting in-person and require additional accommodations should notify NCD as soon as possible to allow time to make arrangements.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!
