GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Goodwill is known as a great place to shop and donate gently used items, but it’s main goal is to offer opportunities to people

with barriers to employment. That’s why

Goodwill of Greater Grand Rapids

is partnering with the

Michigan Rehabilitation Association

and

MARO.

MARO members serve people with physical and developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, traumatic brain injury, people exiting

the criminal justice system, and individuals who are economically disadvantaged. They provide employment, independent living, and community living support

services to thousands of people with barriers in Michigan.

Goodwill works closely with both organizations, as it provides job training and placement services to people with a wide range barriers to employment. Goodwill

is a longstanding member of MARO and believes in the power of non-profit partnership and collaboration.

The team is working together to host the

Convention of New Beginnings

on November 12 and 13 at the Amway Grand Plaza in Grand Rapids. The conference includes a Micro Enterprise Mall with artwork and handmade items produced

by small business entrepreneurs with disabilities. The mall is open to the public on November 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and November 13 from 9 a.m.

to 3 p.m.
