It's that time of year, when our thoughts turn to celebrating old
friendships, reliving cherished memories, and making new friendships
and memories to go with them.

In the Federation family this means planning for more than the Winter
Solstice, Christmas, New Year's Eve, or even the Super Bowl. One of
our biggest celebrations of the year happens in the summer, when we
celebrate equality, independence, and opportunity for the blind at the
National Convention of the National Federation of the Blind. It so
happens that in many years, the organized blind movement's grand
celebration of freedom happens at the same time as when Americans on
the whole recognize the anniversary of our country's liberation.

So save the dates July 3-8, 2018. We will convene at the Rosen
Shingle Creek just as we did in 2016 and 2017. This coming Convention
marks the final year in the Orlando, Florida Convention sequence.

Do you feel financially challenged? Funding is available from several
sources, including the Federation itself. Soon, details about the
Kenneth Jernigan Convention Scholarship will be released. If you've
never been to an NFB National Convention, you're in for a
life-changing experience: one that, incidentally, might be just as
meaningful for your significant other or your children as it is for
you, even if they are not blind, themselves.

You can make room reservations over the phone or in writing starting
January 1, 2018. See the above link for details. See you in Orlando.

Cordially,

Kane Brolin, President
Michiana Chapter, National Federation of the Blind
