Hello to all.

This message is to thank all of you who participated in this year's state
convention. It was one of our best. Special thanks go to those who worked
behind the scenes making arrangements, working with the hotel, or just
running a particular aspect of the operation. We couldn't have a successful
convention without the participation, support and work of all involved. To
those who attended for the first time I hoped you found it to be worthwhile
and if you have not yet done so, I hope you will join one of our local
chapters or become a part of the state organization. As I said in my agenda
message, "Throughout our history we have learned that our greatest strength
comes from our giving. So we give what we have to you and only ask that you
help us in our mission to give to others. " You may think you are unable
to give anything in the way of help to others but you should know that just
your being among us can make the difference in another person's life. We
never know how we touch others. Just by being at a meeting your presence
could well be the spark that ignites hope in another person's heart to start
believing they can truly live the life they want without blindness holding
them back.

To those who were not able to attend this year's convention, you should
know that we have a new board of directors who will work alongside the
current officers. Diana Mohnke and Derek Moore were re-elected to another
two year term. Sabrina Simmons and Jeff Crouch are our two newly elected
board members. I know there is a lot of enthusiasm in them about the
federation and what it means and I look forward to what they can add to our
board in the way of fresh ideas and projects to undertake.

I wish to thank Mary Wurtzel and Melinda Latham for their years of serving
on our state board and I know they will continue to play an active role in
our organization.

We have a lot to do to improve the quality of life for the blind men women
and children who live in Michigan and have not yet learned about us and our
message. So with hope and love in our hearts , and the boost of energy
that only a federation convention can give, let us continue to move on with
renewed dedication and determination. "Let's go build the National
Federation of the Blind."
