I just wanted to take a second and note the success of this year's
Washington Seminar. I enjoyed making the appointments, and had a lot
of great support and help from Gary Ray, and Julius Locklear. I
appreciate all of the advice I got from Stu Mclean, my predecessor and
am appreciative that he was willing to pass the appointment-making
onto me. It was a valuable learning experience. I am also appreciative
of Lusi Radford and Sharon Weddington who offered to help me with
thank you notes, and for the other members, Easter McCall, Tracy King,
Brice Smith, Boyce Locklear, and Sharon Newton who traveled with us to
Washington. We met with our congressmen, and from what I gather, the
appointments went well. Because we had 2 new issues and one that has
barely been introduced to congress, and also because it was a district
week, we did not get a lot of definite answers, but I am confident
that our work on the hill and the work we do from home will contribute
to the sponsorship of bills for our issues. Even though our work on
the hill is done, we can still make calls, and keep up with our
congressmen and let them know that we still need their support.

So thanks to all of you who assisted me in making this Washington
Seminar successful, and for those of you who did not go, your support
from home whether it was from fundraising to assist these of us who
did go or whether it will be from making phone calls to congressmen in
the future, you are much appreciated.
