    Alease  Vandevander    Alease  B. Vandevander PORTSMOUTH - Alease 
Bailey Vandevander, 68, died April 24,  2009. Mrs. Vandevander, a native of 
Portsmouth, was a retired assembly  line worker from Virga's Pizza Crust. She was 
a member of Portsmouth  Assembly of God and the National Federation of the 
Blind. She was  predeceased by a sister, Helen Skinner and a brother, Dr. 
George Bailey.  Survivors include her husband, Harry Robert Vandevander; a 
son, James  Matthew Vandevander of Norfolk; two sisters, Betty Cotton and 
husband  Rufus "Buddy" of Greensboro, N.C., Linda Bailey Kauffman and husband 
Mick  of Chesapeake; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m.  
Tuesday in Portsmouth Assembly of God, 912 Elmhurst Lane, Portsmouth, by  
the Rev. Homer L. Peterson. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.  The 
family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Foster Funeral  
Home, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to  the 
National Federation of the Blind, Tidewater Chapter, 736 Princess Anne  Road, 
W. Unit No. 1, Norfolk, VA  23517.
