At this year's National Federation of the Blind Convention which was held in
Dallas, Texas during the forth-of-July weekend, the technology which can
enable blind people to drive independently was on display.

During the convention, there were displays of the tactile interface
technology which permit the driver to "feel" the objects around them so that
they can be avoided.

As part of the NFB's Blind Driver Challenge, a specially outfitted van will
be fitted with the special technology and be driven by a blind person before
a large audience this January at a major road racing event.

For more information about the challenge and the public display of the blind
drivable car, check out the YouTube link below. By the way, it sound like
Mark Roane from the Fredericksburg chapter is one of the interviewees.
