Job description:
The Section 508 Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Section 508 Program Office and ensuring that external clients and internal program areas receive accurate information regarding compliance to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and that EIT developed or procured is Section 508 compliant. A working knowledge of the Section 508 requirements and the associated subparts of the standards along with Section 255 of the Telecommunications Act are essential.
 
Responsibilities may include: use of assistive technology, software tools and manual techniques to test software, Internet applications, multimedia, documents and hardware for Section 508 compliance; collaborating with developers and participating in formal and informal software development reviews at pre-determined points throughout the project life cycle to ensure Section 508 compliance; writing compliance assessment reports noting compliance failures, usability issues, and suggested remediation techniques for EIT developers; and working in partnership with developers to ensure an understanding of compliance issues and necessary remediation.
 
Desirable candidate skills include excellent communication skills, experience working with several clients or projects simultaneously, technical competence and strong organizational skills. This position requires knowledge of assistive technologies and Section 508 testing tools/techniques and experience with accessibility compliance assessments, technical editing and writing.
