Hello All,
One of the greatest values that comes from belonging to an NFBV chapter is all the great information you get on all sorts of topics from local experts. Our August 18 Fairfax Chapter meeting continues this tradition.

We have one of the most advanced transportation systems in the world in our backyard. Would it be of value to you if you knew about all your Metro options and how to use them effectively?

Our expert presenter for our August meeting is long time friend and Federationist Brigid Doherty and she will tell us all we will need to know about Metro.

Brigid Doherty joined Metro’s team of travel trainers in 2008. She is a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) and holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education. In addition to providing one-on-one and small group orientations to Metro customers who are blind or have low vision, Brigid serves as Metro’s liaison to the blindness community, providing extensive outreach to consumer groups and professional organizations.
Prior to coming to WMATA Brigid worked with the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired in Fairfax, with the Blind Babies Foundation in in San Francisco and coordinated the Students with Disabilities Union in Portland, Oregon. Her work in the disability field spans 23 years. Brigid lives in Fairfax County in close proximity to her large, extended family.

If you were wanting to know how to use Metro or just had questions on how you could leverage it more effectively, you must be at our Thursday August 18 meeting at the Fairfax Red Lobster at 6:30 PM.
Red Lobster
10325 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax, VA 22030

Arrive at 6:30 PM to order dinner and stay for the meeting. We try to end by 8:30 PM. However, we are having so much fun, we run a little long.
