Announcement & Registration for the

Fairfax Chapter Of The NFB Technology Day

*        Saturday September 24, 2016

* Providence Community Center, 3001 Vaden Drive, Fairfax, VA

This event is free and offers 2 90-minute presentations each requiring
pre-registration to be submitted via e-mail no later than 11:59pm Wednesday,
September 7, 2016. Instructions for registering for one or both of these
presentations can be found following the descriptions of the 2 presentations
included in the below event's schedule.

Event Schedule for Saturday September 24:

*         9:30am - 10:00am Session 1 Check-in

*         10:00am - 11:30am Session 1 - NFB Newsline, what is it and what
can it do for me? This session will provide a description of the wide range
of types of information available from NFB Newsline. Participants will
leave with information on how to qualify and sign-up, as well as how to
access the wide range of available information from a telephone touch pad, a
computer or mobile device.

* 11:30am - 11:40am Clear room to set up for next session.

*         11:40am - 12:00pm Check-in Session 2

*        12:00pm - 1:30pm Session 2 - Accessing books Gone are the days when
books are initially available in print hardcover and paperback, and people
with visual impairments have to wait months or years for a title from a best
seller list to be available in an alternative format, that would most likely
not be in braille. Come to this session and learn how books are easily
accessed in large print, digitally recorded speech, synthesized speech,
hardcopy braille and refreshable braille. With the wide range of options
now available that are free, have a monthly, yearly, or per item cost, and
can be accessed in a way that best meets your needs, you can be curled up
with a good book within no time following this presentation.

*        1:30pm End of event
