Good Evening Students and Federation Family

I hope this message finds you all in the holiday spirit and good health.
First, I would like to applaud all of your efforts on helping the student
division create a wonderful social, philosophical, and financial experience
at our state convention last weekend in Virginia Beach. Thanks to all of
your efforts, the student division increased their treasury, increased their
membership, and made an impression on the Vice President of the NFB, Mrs.
Pam Allen.

I write you all today to invite you to join the Virginia association of
Blind Students in their first conference call since the change in their
officer roles after elections. During this meeting on Wednesday, December 7,
2016 at 7pm, we plan to introduce our new officers and give you a bit of
background about them, answer any questions you may have for the board, and
take feedback on what you would like to see from the student division.
Another treat is that we will discuss Washington Seminar. The liaison for
Virginia from the National Association of Blind Students, Luke Schwinck,
will be on the line to explain the student's role at Washington seminar and
how NABS will assist in showing students how to advocate for their needs,
internalize the philosophy of the federation, and handle the feedback that
our delegates, congress officials, and aides will give us. After that,
Michael Kasey, our former affiliate President, will call in to let the
students know what responsibility and importance the student has to their
chapter and affiliate at both Washington and Richmond seminar. Please take
the time to join us for this informational session because it will provide
the tools needed to effectively communicate with our elected officials on
Capitol Hill. If you are a student interested in attending the Washington
seminar, please do not forget to apply for the financial assistance that
NABS is offering by visiting their website, www.nabslinkk.org
<http://www.nabslinkk.org> , and applying. The deadline for this application
is December 2, 2016.

The call-in information is (641) 715-3580. The access code is 184934. If for
any reason there is a problem accessing the line, please call me at 804 200
3275 so that I can rectify the problem. I look forward to speaking with all
of you on December 7th.

Best Regards
