Hello NFB Family and Friends,

Welcome to another edition of member to member, this week we'll get to know
Bob Meter, from our Greater Williamsburg Chapter.

Bob has been a member of our NFBV Family since Spring of 2022. He is a past
President, our current Treasurer, he's our Membership Chair, he's been to
several Richmond Seminars, to National Convention and to State Convention
twice! He has lead our BEAM event, a walk with the blind, and he attended
Silver Bells.

Bob likes music and musicals. He likes to read, history and biographies to
name a few of his favorites. In addition to the NFBV, Bob is very involved
with our local Lions Club.

Bob was born in the "windy city" Chicago, that is. He studied business with
a focus in marketing and management at St. Paul's University. In his senior
year, Bob met Su, the woman who would become his wife in 1978. They have two
daughters and Bob says "one of my best memories was being there for the
birth of my daughters." Bob's career was spent working with non profits, he
retired in 2020 when Covid hit.

Bob is an only child; he was adopted. Through research, he found he has 3
half siblings, who he keeps in touch with. He also found a full sister, who
still lives in Chicago, "she is ten years younger than me and we have gotten
to really know each other and have become close." Bob states.

"Being upright and healthy is the top of my bucket list!" Bob chuckles "and
I want to travel more too." "In the past, I didn't take very good care of
myself so I'm a diabetic now. I struggle with being a burden to anyone! I
work hard to keep my independence." "Its frustrating, at times, having lost
my vision but I work hard to not let vision or the lack of it get in my way
of living" Bob says , triumphantly.

A few fun facts about Bob.If Bob wrote a memoir, it would be titled Be
Positive! If he could travel to any time, he'd travel to the 1950's, post
WW2. "I was very young then; it was a booming time; many advancements
including building an interstate system" Bob says. If Bob could have dinner
with anyone he says "I'd like to have dinner with Barack Obama. He has
strong ties to Chicago, its where he started his political career. He has a
fascinating intellect and background" Bob muses. He's a fan of Barbar
Streisand, "She's a great talent!"

Bob says, with a bit of hesitancy, "I'd wish for world peace, if I had one
wish. I know I sound like a beauty pagent contestant but that's what I'd
really like to experience!"

Thanks Bob for sharing and letting us get to know you a little better. Stay
tuned for the next edition of member to member.

Peace,

Jacki Bruce
