Happy March, fellow Federationists of Virginia.

 

The NFBV Fairfax chapter is happy to present our March learning event on
Advocating for your needs as a blind caregiver or patient in the healthcare
system.

 

Doctors are a fact of life for all of us and our loved ones.  Those doctors
and their staff are responsible for giving us the information we need to
keep healthy and to keep those we love healthy as well.

 

More importantly, we are responsible for ensuring they know what we need
from them and that they are providing that.  Healthcare should be as
accessible as any other sector of our lives.

 

How to accomplish this is what we are delving into this month.

 

This month's speaker will be Eileen Rivera Ley, an Entrepreneur,
Accessibility Strategist, and Diabetes Accessibility Advisor.

 

She is the founder of Blind Savvy USA , a past leader in the NFB's Diabetes
Action Network, and was the Founding Administrator for the Johns Hopkins
Vision Research and Rehabilitation Center of the Wilmer Eye Institute.

 

She will be speaking to us about:

1.      Balancing privacy with your needs as a Blind Patient or caregiver.

2.      Advocating for those needs with Healthcare Providers.
