Fairfax Chapter

Hey everyone and happy May,

This month the Fairfax chapter is setting its sights on digital
Accessibility and we want you help making the internet and all digital
resources a little easier to use.

To that end, we want talk to you about how you can turn your negative
experiences in this arena into positive and actionable results for all of
us.

Ever run into a digital barrier:

an unlabeled button

a form your screen reader can't process

a PDF that refuses to cooperate

You're not alone, and you don't have to just accept what is, is.

The Fairfax Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind is hosting a
fast, practical training on how to file a digital accessibility complaint.
The NFB's philosophy is powerful: blind people are not the problem, barriers
are. And when you speak up, you help break those barriers for yourself and
for others. Because, believe it or not, it's not only the NFB that wants you
to live the life you want. So do all those website owners. They just need
to know how they can make that happen.

In this session, you'll learn how to:

. Spot when a digital issue is worth reporting

. Explain the problem so it gets real attention

. Document what happened without extra stress

. Know exactly where to send your complaint

. Understand what happens after you submit it

Special Guest Speaker

We're excited to feature Corbb O'Connor and Ameenah Ghoston, leaders in
digital accessibility in both the federal government and private sector. As
well as long-time advocates within the NFB community.

They'll share real stories, practical tips, and why filing complaints is one
of the most effective tools for creating change. You'll get insights
straight from someone who's been on the front lines of accessibility
advocacy.
