Seahawks Host Saints in Opening Playoff Game

[cid:image001.jpg at 01CBAE3B.7EC2CBF0]Seattle returns to the postseason after a two-year hiatus when it hosts New Orleans this Saturday in the NFC Wild Card Game. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on NBC (channel 5 in Seattle) and broadcast on 97.3 FM and 710 ESPN Radio in Seattle.

The Seahawks have advanced to the postseason for the seventh time in the past 12 seasons. The only team in the NFC with more appearances in that span is the Philadelphia Eagles (nine) and the only teams in the AFC with more appearances are the Indianapolis Colts (11) and New England Patriots (eight).

Seattle won its fifth NFC West crown in the last seven seasons, and sixth in the last 12, last week with a 16-6 win over St. Louis. Overall, Seattle has won its division seven times (1988, 1999, 2004-07, 2010).

Since Qwest Field opened in 2002, Seattle holds a 4-1 mark in playoff games, including winning the last four after dropping a 2004 Wild Card matchup vs. the St. Louis Rams.

This will be the second meeting between the two teams this year. Seattle dropped a 34-19 decision in New Orleans to the Super Bowl XLIV champions on November 21, giving the Saints a 6-5 series advantage. In that game, each team scored five times, but it was the Saints who capitalized with five touchdowns while Seahawks settled for four field goals, despite a 400-yard effort by Seattle's offense.
