Hello Community Partners!

On January 28th from 10AM-2PM the Seattle Commission for People with disAbilities in partnership with the Seattle Office of Emergency Management will be hosting a disability awareness event entitled Are You Including Everyone? Addressing Service Barriers for People with Disabilities at the American Red Cross. This event follows previous events in the cultural awareness series which seek to inform human service providers, public educators and emergency managers about the unique strengths, capabilities and needs of the communities they serve. This event, as well as the other events in the series, is conducted with the goal of building community relationships and partnerships which will support resiliency for some of our more vulnerable populations when a disaster event occurs.

Space is limited. You may register at the following link:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/are-you-including-everyone-tickets-10017052273

Participants can expect the following at this event:

* Engaging conversations with our panelists who represent diverse disabilities

* Information on how to respectfully interact and communicate with individuals who have disabilities

* Discussions about barriers to service access experienced by people with disabilities

* An interactive exercise to help attendees better understand the strengths and barriers of individuals with disabilities

* A variety of disaster related information and resources
This event is FREE and lunch will be provided. For questions about registering for this event or accommodations please contact Karimah Edwards at karimah.edwards at seattle.gov<mailto:karimah.edwards at seattle.gov> or by phone at 206-733-9551.

Support for this event has been provided by multiple community partners including the Vulnerable Populations Operations Workgroup (VPOW). Please forward to all who may be interested.

We look forward to seeing you there!
