Subject: [Jobs] Announcing the Statler Center will be doing a presentation

Good afternoon all:

I have just confirmed with Patrick Keyes of the Statler Center in Buffalo, NY; that they will be doing a presentation at the NFB Travel & Tourism National Division Meeting which is Schedule from 1-4:30 pm on July 3rd, 2014

If you are not aware of what the Statler Center does, first they have been an exhibitor at the National Convention for years.

The Statler Center was founded in 1999 as a unique concept in hospitality and customer service employment training. One of the first projects of its kind, Statler Center provides physically disabled, blind or visually impaired individuals with the right tools for successful careers. Our job training programs are a unique and exciting concept in employment and training that provides individuals with visual impairments or physical disabilities with the right tools for successful careers in a rapidly growing industries such as hospitality, customer service and contact centers. Statler Center is a program of Olmsted Center for Sight.

Currently, I know of a few people, not myself, but one of our members of NY State Ron Jemmott from Albany had graduated from the school prior to attending and joining the NFB, he know has his own travel agency through a host agency, doing quite well.

These are opportunities for the blind to work in the hospitality profession, whether being a reservations person at call in center or working for a cruise line, and the do have some graduates that work at Disney. I am working with Patrick to get his foot in the door with other suppliers.

The hospitality field is over $1 Trillion business everything from the lowest jobs to the highest in the field.

Just letting you know they will be doing at 15 minute presentation and possibly more, plus they are bringing at graduate of the school, who is now a teacher there as well.
