[nfbwatlk] groceries at national convention

Lauren,

In past years the National Association of Blind Students or NOPBC have
offered a grocery purchase and delivery service for a small fee. If someone
is doing so this year, I'm sure there will be announcements.

There's a drugstore with a small supply of food right across the street from
the hotel. You can buy fruits and vegetables (not a huge supply, but
reasonably healthy choices.) You can also buy the usual snack foods.

There's a Denny's on the same block as the drugstore. I think they're open
24 hours a day, though I'm not certain. You can get a huge breakfast for
seven or eight dollars and they serve breakfast all day long. The hotel
also offers a grab and go lunch with a sandwich, bag of chips, and drink for
ten or eleven dollars. It's not cheap, but it won't break the bank, either.

If you just want a quick snack and don't want to leave the hotel, there's
Tapas. It's fairly expensive, but handy for a light meal. Then there's the
deli. You can eat there for under fifteen dollars.

If you want an all you can eat buffet, that's the place where going
expensive will get you the best buy.

Yes, there are refrigerators in every room.

I hope this helps and I'm delighted you'll be in Orlando.

Mary Ellen

Hi,

Someone told me the rooms have small refrigerators. Is that true? Where can
one find groceries at or near the hotel? Is anything open all night, or, at
least, late, for getting food? I will be coming in really late Sat. the
4th. I will be hungry. I will need to get food because I can't afford the
hotel food except for an occasional meal during the week.

Thanks

Lauren
