The University of South Alabama's Office of Student Disability Services
(SDS) invites applications to its Coordinator for Sensory Impaired
Technology position.



Applicants must have an earned master's degree from an accredited
institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and
one year of related professional experience. Experience with assistive
technology, specifically blind/visual impairments, is preferred.



Responsibilities will include developing tools and processes for evaluating
technology assets, platforms, and services for their ability to comply with
accessibility standards; managing all aspects of alternative format
production and distribution of secure accessible formatted textbooks from
publishers; serving as the point of contact for Accessible Information
Management (AIM) system for students and faculty; training students and
faculty on the use of the AIM system; maintaining the SDS web page; working
with Academic Computing to ensure 508 compliance; serving on the USAOnline
Advisory Committee; providing accessible materials to blind/visually
impaired and deaf/hearing impaired students; staying abreast of assistive
technology hardware and software, and creating documentation on products;
manipulating scanned files using appropriate Optical Character Recognition
(OCR) tools; and managing a caseload of sensory impaired students.
