Dear Mr. Lucas,

I am writing to request that Senator Manchin support the Access Technology Affordability Act (ATAA) HR 2086/S. 815.

After completing higher education, I started applying for jobs. After several interviews, I was overjoyed when I was offered a job with what was then West Virginia University Hospital. There was one catch, I needed special software to install on their equipment that would allow me to independently and efficiently perform the work duties. As I was a consumer of the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services, I contacted my counselor who said that the agency would purchase and provide this software. After a few months, the software had not arrived and West Virginia University Hospital Told me that they could no longer hold the position for me. If, at that time, I could have been backed by something like the Access Technology Affordability Act (ATAA) HR 2086/S. 815, I would have had the means to purchase my own adaptive/assistive technology thereby becoming a tax paying West Virginian much sooner who could have gotten off of Social Security and Medicaid at that time.

Thank you for your time and attention to this request.

I can be contacted as follows:
