NJ Guide Dog conference call April 17, 2016 Minutes Meeting called to order
at 7:10 pm by President Dan Facchini.
Roll call:

Item 1. Dan asked Jerilyn to take the Minutes in Rick's absence.
Minutes, Secretary Rick Fox was not available to give the Minutes, Trish Ebel
motioned to table the Minutes from last conference call, seconded by Alice
Eaddy, voted on and passed.
Item 2. Treasurer report: Joe Braz has resigned.  Trish Ebel made a motion to
table the treasurer report until next meeting, Alice Eaddy seconded the
motion, voted on and passed.
Item 3. Dan reported that he appointed Trish Ebel as the treasurer until
elections in November, since Joe Braz would be at Hellen Keller for some
time, he felt he should resign. Dan reported that he and Trish will be
setting up a date to add signatures and deposit checks to the treasury bank
account. 
Item 4. Legislation, Dan feels we should work on the Access law.  We need to
check with Seeing Eye to be sure of the New Jersey laws.  Florida has a
federal law for Access we will look at theirs.
We can write our own Access law resolution to present at the NFB State
Convention, Rick Fox and Michael Halm are our representatives on the
resolution committee.
Item 5. Fund raising: Jerilyn and Tara are working on a fund raising mailer
similar to the Stay at home tea party the state affiliate used several years
ago.  Instead of a tea bag with a poem requesting donations, it would be a
dog biscuit and a poem regarding guide dogs.
Dan suggested we have a table at ShopRite and include puppy raisers, we would
hand out literature and people could pet the puppies. We would split the
proceeds with the puppy raisers.  This would be in October for a Meet the
Blind month activity.
Item 6. Less Cameron reminded everyone that   Dog vision exams are held in
May. There are 4 locations in New Jersey, identified by your zip code. You
can register on line or you can call, less will put the number on the list
serve.
Item 7. There was a discussion regarding Heartworm and tick medicine for our
dogs, there is a pill available now.  Some dog's stomachs are more sensitive
than others, in that case you would have to break the pill in half and give
it in two days.
Item 8. Dan asked if there was any other discussion, questions or comments,
hearing none, Alice made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Less seconded the
motion, and the meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.

Hello to all division members,

On Saturday morning, 11/12 at 7 am we will be having our NJAGDU division
meeting.  I am happy to let you know that at 7:45 am we will have a 45 minute
presentation from the Ocean county puppy raiser club.  This will be a good
time for all to learn more about the puppy raising stage of our Guide dogs.
Have your questions ready!!!

2017 dues will also be collected at this meeting, if you want to continue
with being part of the division please bring your $5.
