Good Afternoon, Cleveland and Friends,
Happy Holidays. I trust that your thanksgiving was pleasant, restful and a
time shared with family and friends.
I am sharing this with outside members, due to a member requesting the
information.
Please read this update through its entirety.
///
On Saturday, Cleveland members attended the home going of Evelyn
Morson-Eaddie, who passed on November 13th.
What a beautiful celebration of her life and service it was. Friends and
family honoring her legacy, service and life. Both, the Cleveland Chapter
and the Ohio Affiliate presented A proclamation in her honor. It was written
at midnight after I flew back into Cleveland from Atlanta. I really wanted
to be at the service, so I cut my trip short.
We are a family and being present is important if you are able!
Along with the proclamation Cleveland presented the family with a membership
coin and Evelyns red hoody, that she did not receive after being unable to
attend the convention. I along with many members will surely miss her. She
always provided me encouraging words that I will treasure for a lifetime.
She was loved by many members and friends of the federation.
Unfortunately, Cleveland has another upcoming funeral to attend. Nettie
McDermotts celebration of life is Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 1:00PM.
EST. The location is Nuvision missionary Baptist church, 954 Linn drive,
Cleveland, Ohio 44108. The Repass is directly following service. Nettie will
be buried in Michigan alongside her mother, sister and brother, which is her
home on December 4th.
Nettie was a long-time member for over 30 years. She kept Cleveland
accountable in many ways. Her dedication and presence were evident as recent
as September. Although, she was battling cancer, she did not stop serving. I
am so happy that she was the winner of the Valentine Love Bird Package in
February of this year. She was so excited to be the winner!
I spoke to her daughter and if you would like to attend the celebration on
this Saturday, the family would appreciate that. You can also send flowers
to the church as well. Financial contributions can be made to her daughter
by cash app. The address is: $DeionRN
Please keep both families in your prayers, as well as Netties fiancé,
Fletcher Knight.

Cleveland Chapter, President
The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and
all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
