While the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863, ittook two and a half years for the news of freedom to reach enslaved BlackAmericans in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865. In this session, Dr. CarolynPeters will guide us through a powerful exploration of "delayedaccess"—not just as a historical fact, but as a lens to understandongoing systemic barriers and equity today.
