Hello Family,

I sure hope everyone will enjoy this Holiday Season! Please take all the
necessary precautions to stay safe. I’m sending you an attached letter for
you to share with your eye care provider. This is the end of the year and
companies usually try to find opportunities to donate to enhance their tax
write-offs. They have benefited from us during the year. Why not ask for a
contribution toward our movement in Alabama? We are asking for a $20.20
donation or more. Please, let’s contact them and end this year creating
greater favorable circumstances in 2021 for all.

Yours in the Movement,

Barbara

Dear Friend,

This year has been a year as no other, as I’m sure you’re aware. The
National Federation of the Blind Has been busy during these times of
uncertainty. The year started with a delegation of our members going to
Washington D.C which is a great gathering of Blind Americans seeking to
improve our lives through means of collective action. We spoke with the
offices of all of our Alabama representatives regarding legislative topics
such as improving the affordability of specialized technology which
improves our independence and employability, requesting accessibility
features be implemented in the areas of medical equipment, home fitness
equipment, and general household appliances. the accessibility of on line
platforms, e text, and accessible materials for higher education which will
foster greater accessibility for the blind is greatly needed.

In March we held Our state convention which was a time of unity,
exploration, and education. Our members could network with other blind
individuals and professionals working in the field of education and
rehabilitation of the blind. This summer our youngest members participated
in the first ever BELL Academy home edition and were taught enrichment in
the areas of braille, non-visual techniques, and mentorship.

Like most of the state, our members have experienced social isolation and
uncertainty. The National Federation of the Blind of Alabama stepped in to
create innovative ways to help. Since April 2020 we have provided weekly
and sometimes daily informative presentations and socialization activities
to keep our members engaged and not feel so isolated. This was accomplished
through our Zoom platform.

You can see clearly that the National Federation of the Blind of Alabama
has a vision for a brighter future for Alabama’s blind and visually
impaired citizens.

We are asking you to join our mission toward enhancing blind individuals lives
in our great state. In the spirit of this year, will you consider donating
$20.20 or more to help make our dreams a reality? Our blind community say,
thanks in advance.

Please forward all donations to NFB of Alabama, 121 Cork Alley, Madison,
