You can get some herb kits. I bought mine at Walmart. It has the little bit 
of earth the seeds and a plastic container to start.

In my other place I got an aquarium, only 10 gallons and had a wild herb 
garden. I just put in soil and seeds and wow did it ever just go mad!

I put them in quadrens.

My kids used to pick the parsley and just eat it.
