Quoting Susan Roe <dogwoodfarm at verizon.net>:
My little goats turned 7 weeks old on Sunday, so I started weaning them last
Wednesday. They are not happy and neither is Lollipop. They sound just like
crying babies; I keep waiting for a neighbor to call Child Protection Services
on me! They've actually been a little quieter the last couple of days.

I milked Lollipop while they were nursing, but got very little milk, about 3
cups a day. Now that the babies aren't nursing I'm getting close to a gallon
each day. I'm making cheese, home made ice cream, drinking it, cooking with
it, giving it to a friend and donating some to feed orphaned kittens. This is
the first times she's had kids, so she will probably produce more next time.

Lollipop is doing very well and standing quietly while being milked. The kids
are eating hay and goat feed. I can't believe how quickly they have grown.
They are very healthy and pretty. I've handled them from the second they were
born, so they are friendly with people. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep
or sell them. I will probably keep them; this is the first time I've ever bred
and raised any kind of babies, so I'm really attached to them. Mike says I'm
so proud that one would think that I was the birth mother!

My garden is doing well; I already have tomatos turning red. My cabbage is
about ready and I'm still getting lettuce, spinach and carrots. My squash, egg
plant and peppers are blooming, so I just have to keep everything watered.

One of my cinnamon Queen hens died and I have no idea why; she was dead when I
went out to feed. She was only about 2 1/2 years old. The remaining 5 hens
are laying well. I'm thinking about getting a few chicks to raise.

My old nanny goat Jellybean died last Tuesday; she was at least 15 years old and
had canser. I'm sad, but know that it was her time. She went quietly in her
sleep; she looked peaceful when I found her. Mike was his normal loving self
and buried her for me.

Well that's about all going on here. What's happening with everyone else.

Nella
