Hi Jody,

Your semi-composted leaves will work fine in your garden area since the soil 
is still moist.  You can still use the pete a little as you go and not be 
such a cost facter.  Also as your family clears away your brush, see if you 
can burn any of it and also either put them in your compost or work it into 
your soil when it is in your off season.

The book "Barnyard in Your Backyard" is a great book.  We have it in 
printand I also have read it via the library.
