This position is assigned to the Farm Service Agency in Florida, Office of the State Executive Director, located in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida. 

The selectee:
Serves as secretary and personal assistant to the State Executive Director (SED) with responsibility for performing and coordinating a variety of administrative and clerical support functions necessary for the effective operation of the SED’s immediate office and the State FSA Office (STO). 
Serves as confidential assistant to the SED on matters of a sensitive nature as well as secretary to the State FSA Committee (STC) and the State Emergency Board. 
A qualified typist is required to perform word processing and other office automation duties.

Applicants must meet all qualification requirements by 11:59 p.m. EST on the closing date, as defined below. 

You may start at the GS-8 level if you have the following qualifications: 

One year of specialized work experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Experience that is in or related to the line of work of this position and has equipped me with specific knowledge skills, and abilities to independently coordinate, monitor and perform all the clerical and administrative functions, duties, priorities, commitments, policies and program goals of an office. This experience must include coordinating the work of others and independently setting procedures and guidelines for others to follow. Experience also includes knowledge of grammar, punctuation, format and style to prepare correspondence, memorandums, and other documents utilizing word processing and other automated systems. 

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: Must type 40 words per minute. 

THE SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION IS NOT QUALIFYING FOR THE GS-8 LEVEL. 

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND FINGERPRINT CHECK: Selection and retention in this position is contingent upon a successfully adjudicated FBI National Criminal History Check (fingerprint check) and a background investigation.

Applications will be evaluated in accordance with Office of Personnel Managements (OPM) Delegated Examining Procedures using category rating. Applicants who meet basic minimum qualifications will be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified . Within these categories, applicants eligible for veterans preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans. Category placement will be determined based on applicants' quality of experience and the extent they possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (or competencies):
