Hello Ms. Adkins,

I have been blind since age four, grew up on a 110 cow family dairy farm, have a bachelors in animal science from Cornell University, and am pursuing a career in animal biology research. In my youth I exhibited dairy and beef cattle at county, state and regional competitions in New Hampshire and New England. After graduating from Cornell, I began working for my family farm as Assistant Shepherd and Young Stock Manager. In 2013 I completed a fellowship at Purdue University working in a swine nutrition lab.

Presently I am county delegate and chairman of the Coos Young Farmer group and a 4-H leader for the Early Risers 4-H club.
This summer I will be working as an intern for the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture in Arlington, VA. Finally, I have two graduate school applications into the University of New Hampshire and Cornell for Animal Science.

If I meet your criteria for an agriculture professional, I am more than happy to help however I may.

Regards,

Zac

Hi,

My name is Anita Adkins. I am blind. I am also the Braille teacher at the West Virginia School for the Blind. My goal is to locate someone in the field of agriculture who is blind or visually impaired (see below). If you or someone you know would be willing to assist me with this, I would greatly appreciate it. My principal prefers someone in WV, but please let me know about any blind/low vision people and/or resources you might have. Feel free to give my email address to any blind/low vision person in this field. Thanks.

Do you know any individuals who are blind or anyone that I can contact to find out who is blind that works in the field of Agricultural and Natural Resources and Energy? If possible, it would be good to know someone in WV. Would like to have someone who can relate to this an area such as WV. If you could put this out to others who can help, that would be great.
